Today I’m linking up at Honey We’re Home to share our Christmas tree.    christmas_treeHere’s our little $20 Big Lots Christmas tree.  This year I went for deep reds and straw colored woods.christmas_tree_pine_cone_angelHere is a little pine cone angel I picked up at an Oktoberfest.christmas_tree_straw_ornamentsI bought a whole pack of straw ornaments for $5.99 from Ikea.  They reminded me of the traditional ornaments found in southern Germany, where my mother is from.christmas_tree_topperAfter three years of being on the lookout, I finally caved and bought a tree topper.  There just doesn’t seem to be much out there.  I hear a crafting project for next year!christmas_tree_wood_cut_outMy aunt (also from Germany) sends Christmas ornaments year round.  Here is one of my favorites! christmas_tree_2011_ornamentOur 2011 ornament.christmas_tree_cotton_ornamentA cotton ball ornament I picked up from a plantation in Louisiana one summer vacation.christmas_tree_doll_ornamentA doll I made at sixth grade camp.  Just kidding, not every ornament has a story : ]  This is just from Target.christmas_tree_glitter_pine_coneAnak brought this glittered pine cone home from day care and I crafted into an ornament.  Man, this is the stuff motherhood is made of!christmas_tree_handprint_ornamentAnak’s hand print ornament from when he was just a few weeks old.

As you can see, my Christmas tree is a collection of memories which is what I think a Christmas tree is all about!

  2. Hey there! Love your sweet tree and your ornaments! Thanks for linking up on my blog! Happy to have you there!

  3. I completely agree with your Christmas tree philosophy! Our tree is a perfect matchy-matchy one, but most of our ornaments are special and meaningful which makes it even better! Your pictures look great and I LOVE your tree topper!!

  4. Beautiful tree! I love that you everything on your tree is so thoughtful, but that your tree is simple and inexpensive. Great job!
